Partnership Development

I am very excited to now be officially in full-time “Partnership Development” mode.  This means that between now and when I leave, I will be spending time sharing my ministry vision with people and telling them about how they can be involved in what God is doing in the Philippines. I am looking for partners to join my team.

At first I thought that the term “partner” (rather than “supporter”) sounded a little odd. In my mind I hear the caller at a bush dance saying, “Take your partner by the arm…” But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

You see, a supporter is someone who is backing me in some way. They are there to support me in what I am doing. It may be subtle, but the focus is on me. A partner, however, is an equal member of the same team. According to my children’s dictionary, it is “the person you are doing something with”.

Jesus’ command to make disciples of all nations is clearly not something that any one person can do alone. Making disciples amongst even one of the world’s 2500 unreached people groups is an enormous task that requires the involvement of a diverse team of people. This is something that we must do together, and there is definitely something for each of us to do. We each have a different role on the team and a unique contribution to make.

So I am looking for partners – people who want to be a part of my ministry in the Philippines. I need people who will keep in touch with me, encourage me and pray for me. Since I am not paid a salary for my work, I also need people who are able to make regular financial contributions toward my monthly budget.

Please contact me if you are interested in finding out more about partnering with me in my ministry or if you would simply like to catch up while I’m still in Perth. I would love to have a chat with you individually or to share with your church or small group.

I’ll even give you one of these brand new prayer cards that arrived in the mail today! I wasn't expecting them until tomorrow, so it was a nice surprise when they arrived not only on-time, but actually early!

My sister thinks she deserves royalties for taking my prayer card picture, but she’ll just have to settle for an honorary mention on my blog instead! :-)

Technology for the Technologically Challenged

One thing I am doing at the moment in preparation for my ministry in the Philippines is figuring out ways to stay connected with people (hence this blog). Over the past few days, this has involved navigating my way through various innovations that are far more technological than I am! I was glad to discover that at least one of these technologies was designed for people like me.

I set up an email program called MailChimp last night and was pleasantly surprised at how easy this was to do. I also found the process rather amusing.

One of the first instructions I had to follow was, “Click the big button below to activate your MailChimp account”. Directly under those words was a large blue button that said “Activate Account”. It sounded just like something you would find in a children’s book (“Find the big blue button”). But maybe that’s just the teacher in me coming out… :-)

If only technology could always be so easy!
