Welcome and thank you for stopping by. As you
can see, this is my first post, but you’ve got to start somewhere, right? At
the moment I’m still getting set up and figuring this whole blog thing out. It’s
proving to be more difficult and time-consuming than I anticipated, but perhaps
I’m just a little technologically challenged!
Chances are that if you’re reading this, it’s
probably because you already know me or at least know something about me, but
allow me to take some time to introduce myself anyway.
I grew up in the Perth Hills, where I lived
until I completed my teaching degree. (I started to write about growing up in
the Hills, but quickly realized that this subject requires a post all of its
own!) Growing up, I always wanted to live in the country. Well I eventually got
my opportunity in the form of two different teaching positions in the town of
Katanning.
After gaining some teaching experience, I moved
to Paraguay where I helped out two missionary families by homeschooling their
kids for several years. I loved Paraguay and I have not stopped drinking tereré
(google it!) since I left there four years ago.
I then returned to Perth where I worked for a
while and did a Bible college course, before heading to the USA for missionary
training. During my time in missionary training, I was able to get some additional
training as a “homeschool consultant”. I plan to use my training and experiences
to help missionary families who are ministering in the Philippines.
At the moment, I find myself once again back in
Perth as I prepare for my upcoming move to the Philippines. Stay tuned for more
details about what this preparation currently looks like…
